The UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) is developing an international statistical framework with the future parameters to measure the tourism effect, not just on an economic or social level, but also analyzing the environmental sustainability of the different actions.
Since the international convention of Manila (Philippines) in 2017, different trial versions have been tested in countries like Germany, Philippines and Saudi Arabia, but it's just the start on an international level.
This initiative is called MST (Measuring the Sustainability of Tourism) and it's aimed to establish a standard method of collecting comparable data on the sustainability of the touristic impact. It's thought to be the third international standard on tourism statistics by the UN Statistics Commission (UNSC).
